Happy New Year!
How does 2021 look so far?
As I write in Minnesota, the snow is sparkling in the winter sunlight. I love the glittering white all around — it intensifies the hope of fresh starts, clean slates, and new beginnings.
Every year we can start over.
Are you making changes this year? Are you being intentional about moving forward? Are you pursuing transformation?
Me, too.
I haven’t found anyone who doesn’t want 2021 to be different and better than 2020.
What, exactly, does different and better look like for you?
This January, we have more information than usual as we consider changes for the future. 2020 offered us all a change of pace, and thus, new perspectives.
What did you learn about yourself and your life as a result of the disruptions? What did you discover about your habits, your home, or how you cope with distress? What did you lose? What did you gain?
I discovered I’m more extroverted than I thought, and spending time with others is key to my flourishing.
I rearranged almost every room of my home, shifting furniture and decorations, releasing some items and repurposing others.
Due to the shutdowns, I lost some work, some travel plans, and for awhile, the ability to go to the library. (A deprivation for a reader like me!)
I gained more time with family, bigger margins, and clarity of direction
As I look to implement changes in 2021, I’m using the acronym BOLD to frame my vision:
Beauty | Order | Love | Depth
I invite you to adopt these as well, whether you want to change your inner world, your outer world, or both!
In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing more about each of these, and offering fresh perspectives to ponder, questions to consider, and encouragement to remember what is essential.
Tell me:
Which of these elements resonates with you?
Which of these makes you curious?
Have a question for me? (about anything at all!)
Let’s make 2021 a BOLD, Joyful Year!
